Hoteon 40cm USB LED Desk & Cabinet Light, 500 Lumens, ₹682

Ever tried studying or working at night with one dull ceiling tube behind you, throwing your own shadow straight across the page? A desk light shouldn't eat half your table to fix that. Here's a slim little bar that sticks right above your workspace and runs off a plain USB port, and right now it's going for ₹682, a full 66% off its ₹1,999 MRP.

WHO IT'S FOR

This one suits students in hostels and PGs, work-from-home folks with tiny desks, and anyone who wants light under a shelf, cabinet or bookcase without calling an electrician. If you've got a USB port on a laptop, charger or power bank, you've got a power source.

DESIGN AND BUILD

The Hoteon Under Cabinet Light is a straight 40 cm (about 20 inch) LED batten in white. There's no base and no arm, so it takes up zero desk space. It's built to mount in two ways: a magnet inside lets it snap onto any iron surface, and a magnetic 3M adhesive sheet is included so you can stick it to wood, laminate or a wall shelf and then clip the light on. A single push button handles everything.

KEY FEATURES IN REAL-WORLD TERMS

• •3 colour temperatures: cool white (5700K) for focused work, natural white (4000K) for everyday use, and warm yellow (3000K) for relaxed evening reading.
• •10 brightness levels: you can dial it from 10% to 100%, so it works as a bright task light or a soft night light.
• •500 lumens from 7W: that's plenty for a study table or a kitchen counter, while drawing very little power.
• •Flicker-free LEDs: the listing says the lighting is flicker free, which matters if you spend hours reading or on a screen.
• •Plug-and-play USB: run it from a laptop, mobile charger, car USB port or even a power bank for temporary or outdoor use.

PERFORMANCE AND WHAT BUYERS SAY

With a 4.4-star rating from 1,907 ratings and a #1 Best Seller badge, buyers are clearly happy. Quality is the most praised point by far, with hundreds of positive mentions. Brightness, easy installation, usefulness, colour options and the lighting modes all get strong feedback too. People like using it as a desk lamp replacement, a study light in rooms and a shelf or cabinet light in the kitchen.

The one mixed area is the magnetic attachment. A fair number of buyers love how quick it is, while others feel the hold could be stronger on some surfaces. Performance also gets a handful of complaints alongside a lot more praise.

HOW IT COMPARES

Typical study lamps in the ₹300 to ₹700 range sit on your desk with a base and a bendy neck, which eats space and casts light from one spot. This bar spreads light evenly along 40 cm from above, which is better for a wide desk, keyboard or counter. Branded rechargeable lamps give you portability, but often cost more and run on a battery that fades over time. If you want a clutter-free setup and don't mind it being plugged in, this is the smarter pick.

VALUE FOR MONEY

At ₹682, you're getting adjustable colour, ten brightness steps and 500 lumens in a form that works at a desk, in a kitchen or in a wardrobe. For the price of a basic study lamp, that's real flexibility.

VERDICT

If you want bright, adjustable light without losing an inch of desk space, the Hoteon 40 cm USB light bar is an easy yes at ₹682. Grab it while the 66% discount lasts, and just check that your mounting surface suits the magnet or the adhesive sheet.
