How We Score Products

How products are picked, scored and ranked in our Top 10 lists

In short

Every Top 10 list ranks products within one category and one budget using their listed specifications, compared with the other products in that same budget. We do not lab-test or hands-on test products, and no brand can pay for a place or a better score.

1. Choosing the products

We start from products that are listed and in stock on Amazon.in within the budget in the title (for example, under ₹20,000). We look at the models people are actually buying in that range and leave out listings with missing key specs or clearly unreliable details.

2. Scoring each parameter (0–10)

Each category has its own parameters, chosen from what buyers usually care about. For mobiles that includes performance, display, cameras, battery, charging, memory, software update policy, build, connectivity, audio and value for money. Laptops, TVs, appliances and other categories have their own sets.

Each product gets a score from 0 to 10 for every parameter, based on its listed specs relative to the other products in the same budget. A 9 means "among the best in this price range", not "the best possible". A phone scoring 9 for camera in a ₹15,000 list would not necessarily score 9 in a ₹40,000 list. Value for money looks at what you get for the price.

3. The overall score

The overall score combines the parameter scores into one number out of 10, as an average or a weighted average where some parameters matter more in a category. Products are ranked by this overall score. The table and the score bars on each list show every parameter, so you can focus on the ones that matter to you.

4. Amazon star ratings are shown separately

The star rating and number of ratings shown next to each product are Amazon.in customer ratings. We show them alongside our scores so you can see what owners think, but they are a separate number, not our score.

5. What we don't do

  • We don't lab-test, benchmark or use the products ourselves. Scores reflect specs on paper, and real-world experience can differ.
  • We don't accept payment for placements, rankings or scores.
  • We don't invent specs. If a spec isn't listed, it isn't counted in the product's favour.

6. Prices and updates

Prices on Amazon.in change often. We recheck prices regularly and update lists over time, but the price shown on Amazon.in when you buy is the one that applies.

How we earn

Minizon earns a small commission through Amazon Associates links at no extra cost to you. This never changes a score or a rank. See our Affiliate Disclosure and About page. Found an error? Email contact@minizon.in.
