Our Review Researched from product specs and verified buyer feedback

Looking for the safest, best-reviewed microwave under ₹10,000? The IFB 24L Solo Microwave (model 24PM2S) is the #1 best seller in Solo Microwaves on amazon.in, with 4.4★ from 3,289 ratings, an Amazon's Choice badge and 3K+ bought in the past month. It was ₹8,490 when we checked (MRP ₹10,290) and ships from Amazon. It ranks #2 in our Best Microwave Ovens Under ₹10,000 list with an overall score of 7.7/10, and it is our pick for most homes that only need a solo microwave.

WHO IT'S FOR

Families of three to five who reheat, defrost and cook simple dishes every day, and want more space and power than a basic 20L model without paying for a grill.

SOLO, GRILL OR CONVECTION?

A solo microwave only uses microwaves: it reheats, defrosts, boils milk, makes tea and cooks simple dishes like dal, khichdi, poha and steamed vegetables. A grill microwave adds a heating element at the top, so it can also brown and crisp food such as paneer tikka, kebabs, toast and pizza. A convection microwave adds a fan and heater as well, so it can bake cakes and bread and roast like a small OTG. Under ₹10,000 most good options are solo, a few are grill, and convection models are rare. Buy for what you will really cook, not for the longest feature list.

CAPACITY

24 litres, which IFB says fits standard dinner plates and bowls. Outside size is 48.2 cm wide, 37.5 cm deep and 27.6 cm high, and it weighs 11.8 kg. Capacity scores 7.5/10. Type scores 5.0/10 because it is a solo model.

POWER

900W microwave output, the joint highest in this list with the IFB 25L and Panasonic 25L, and 10 power levels. IFB estimates about 10.2 units a month with 25 minutes of use a day, roughly ₹80 a month at ₹8 a unit. Power scores 9.0/10.

AUTO-COOK MENUS AND CONTROLS

69 auto-cook recipes, including cup meals, one-pot meals, Chef's Secrets, pizza reheat, beverages and desserts. A touch keypad (membrane) gives one-touch "Daily Essentials" for reheat, steam clean, disinfect, deodorize and power saving, plus a timer, delay start, auto defrost, quick reheat, 30-second express cook and multi-stage cooking. Menus score 8.5/10 and controls 8.5/10.

CLEANING

IFB describes an easy-clean enamel/powder-coated, anti-bacterial cavity and a steam clean program. (Amazon's spec table lists the material as stainless steel; the bullets and IFB's images say coated cavity, which is what we go by.) Cleaning scores 8.0/10.

SAFETY

Child lock, a door interlock system and overheating protection are listed. Safety scores 8.5/10.

ACCESSORIES

The spec table lists only a roller ring as an included component. There is no rack or cookbook listed, which is normal for solo models but scores 5.5/10.

WARRANTY

1 year comprehensive, 3 years on the magnetron and cavity, and 6 years of spare-parts support. That is better than the 1-year cover from Panasonic and LG. Warranty scores 7.5/10.

LISTING NOTES

The unit is made by Galanz in China for IFB (IFB is the importer). It is sold by Dawntech Electronics and shipped by Amazon; delivery was showing Friday, 30 October when we checked. The door opens to the right per the spec table, so check your kitchen layout.

TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS

Use a lower power level with longer time for dal, milk and rice to stop boiling over. Use the steam clean program once a week. Cover food with a microwave-safe lid to keep the cavity clean.

HOW IT COMPARES AT THIS PRICE

VALUE FOR MONEY

Big capacity, top power, strong warranty and the best owner feedback in this list for ₹8,490: 9.0/10.

VERDICT

The IFB 24L Solo is the best solo microwave under ₹10,000 for most families. Buy it if you reheat and cook simple dishes; choose a grill or convection model only if you really need browning or baking.
