Want the air fryer that most Indian buyers actually end up with? The Philips NA120/00 (1000 Series, 4.2L) is the #1 Best Seller in Air Fryers on amazon.in, listed at ₹4,699 (MRP ₹5,995) with 4.3★ from 6,379 ratings and 20K+ bought in the past month when we checked. It ranks #1 in our Best Air Fryers Under ₹5,000 list with an overall score of 7.6/10. It is not the biggest or the most feature-packed fryer here, but it is the one with the best-proven cooking design, the easiest cleaning and a proper 2-year Philips warranty.
WHO IT'S FOR
Couples and families of 2 to 3 people who want crisp fries, tikkas, cutlets and reheated samosas every day without fuss, and who care more about reliable results than about a touch screen. It also suits older family members, because it runs on two simple knobs.
CAPACITY AND POWER
The pan is 4.2 litres. Philips says it holds about 500g of fries, 6 chicken drumsticks or 500g of vegetables at a time. That is enough for 2 to 3 people; a family of 4 or more will cook snacks in two batches. Power is 1500W, among the highest in this list, and Philips says no pre-heating is needed.
TEMPERATURE AND CONTROLS
Temperature runs from 80°C to 200°C and the timer goes up to 60 minutes. Here is the important part: this is an analogue model with a temperature knob and a timer knob, per the Philips user manual and data sheet. Amazon's table says "Control Method: Touch", which is wrong. There is no digital screen and no one-touch preset buttons. The "12 cooking methods" Philips advertises (fry, bake, grill, roast, reheat, defrost, dehydrate and more) are ways to use it, not programmed buttons. One Amazon buyer also notes the timer knob cannot easily be turned back down once set. That is why it scores only 5.5/10 on presets and controls.
COOKING AND AIRFLOW
This is where it wins. Philips calls itself the inventor of the Airfryer, and its RapidAir system with the star-shaped "StarPlate" at the bottom of the pan is designed to push hot air evenly so you do not have to keep flipping food. It gets our top score of 9.0/10 for even cooking in this list. Philips also claims up to 90% less fat than deep frying, which is a marketing figure, not something we tested.
CLEANING AND COATING
The non-stick pan and StarPlate are dishwasher-safe (Philips data sheet and Amazon table agree), and Philips lists a BPA-free inner coating. Most rivals here are hand-wash only, so this earns 9.0/10 for cleaning.
BUILD AND SAFETY
It has automatic shut-off, cool-touch handgrips, a cool wall exterior, non-slip feet and cord storage. Philips lists the weight as 4.2kg (Amazon says 4.4kg) and the size as 36.8 x 27.3 x 29.3cm. It is made in China. The power cord is short at 0.8m, so you need a socket close by.
NOISE
Neither Philips nor Amazon gives a noise figure, and we do not run lab tests, so it gets the same neutral 5.5/10 as every fryer in this list.
WARRANTY AND SERVICE
2-year Philips warranty (carry-in), confirmed by the Philips user manual and Philips India's warranty page. Philips has one of the widest service networks for small appliances in India.
TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS
Because there is no preset screen, keep a simple chart near the fryer: frozen fries at about 200°C for 15–18 minutes, paneer or chicken tikka at 180°C for 12–15 minutes, and reheated samosas at 160°C for 4–5 minutes. Shake the pan once halfway. The free HomeID app has recipes with settings for this model, which makes up for the missing presets.
