Godrej Edge 7 kg Semi-Automatic, 1440 RPM Spin, ₹9,490

Want the cheapest well-rated washing machine from a big Indian brand? The Godrej Edge 7 kg semi-automatic has the fastest spin in our list (1440 RPM), Active Soak and, for purchases from April 2026, Godrej advertises a 5-year comprehensive warranty. It was ₹9,490 on amazon.in when we checked (MRP ₹15,000), with 4.2★ from 830 ratings and 400+ bought in the past month. It ranks #8 in our Best Washing Machines Under ₹15,000 list with an overall score of 6.6/10.

WHO IT'S FOR

Families of three to four on a tight budget, and anyone who wants a long warranty. Our listing is the WS EDGE CLS 70 5.0 PN2 in Graphite Grey.

HOW IT WORKS

This is a semi-automatic twin-tub machine: you wash in one tub, then lift the wet clothes into the smaller spin tub yourself. It needs a little more effort than a fully automatic machine, but it uses less water and power, you can fill it with a bucket or hose, and it does not need steady tap pressure, which suits many Indian homes.

CAPACITY

7 kg, rated for three to four members. Score: 6.5/10.

WASH PROGRAMS

Only 2 programs: Regular and Strong, the fewest in our list (the spec table also lists Gentle, but the bullets and Gadgets360 say two). Active Soak helps with tough dirt. Score: 4.5/10.

ENERGY AND WATER

BEE 5-star, but the listed water use is 23 litres per kg per cycle, the highest figure in our list. No kWh figure is given. Score: 6.0/10.

SPIN SPEED AND DRYING

1440 RPM, the fastest spin here, so clothes come out the driest. Score: 8.5/10.

MOTOR

The listing contradicts itself: the title says 370 W PowerMax wash, while the bullets and spec table say a 460 W wash motor. Either way it is one of the stronger motors here. Like every machine in our list, it does not list an inverter or BLDC motor; at ₹15,000 those only appear on a few higher-priced fully automatic models. The motor score reflects listed wattage and wash strength only (motor warranty is scored separately). Score: 6.0/10.

DRUM AND TUB

A Storm Force pulsator, ribbed walls and a rust-proof polypropylene tub and body. Score: 5.5/10.

NOISE AND VIBRATION

Godrej is the only maker here to list a figure: 65 dB. That is about the level of normal conversation, typical for a twin-tub. Score: 5.5/10.

FEATURES

• •A water-protected rear control panel, memory backup, a cartridge lint filter and an anti-rust cabinet. Score: 6.0/10.

WARRANTY

Godrej's bullet promises a 5-year free comprehensive warranty on purchases from 1 April 2026 "until withdrawn" by the company. The spec table still says 2 years on product, 5 years on motor, as do Gadgets360 and Smartprix. Keep your invoice and confirm the 5-year cover with Godrej after delivery. Score: 8.5/10.

TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS

Use Active Soak for school uniforms and collars. Clean the cartridge lint filter often. Do not overload the spin tub at 1440 RPM.

HOW IT COMPARES AT THIS PRICE

The Samsung WT70M3000UU (₹10,190) has 3 programs and an Amazon's Choice badge, but a shorter warranty. The LG P7020NGAZ (₹11,490) has more ratings and lower water use.

VALUE FOR MONEY

The lowest price here with a long warranty offer: 8.5/10.

VERDICT

The Godrej Edge 7 kg is the best washing machine under ₹10,000 in our list. Buy it for the price, spin and warranty; skip it if you want more programs.
