WHO IT'S FOR

Families, kids and friends who want karaoke nights, birthday parties or antakshari at home, and anyone who wants a party speaker with a mic for under ₹1,200.

SOUND AND BASS

Portronics lists 20W output; Amazon lists 1 channel, so this is a mono speaker. It is tuned for voices and party music rather than detail. Scores: 6.5/10 for sound and 7.0/10 for bass.

LOUDNESS

20W is among the louder ratings in this list: 8.0/10.

BATTERY

Only up to 5 hours of playtime per Portronics, and the battery capacity is not published. With the mic and RGB lights in use, expect less. This is the shortest claim in this list together with the JBL Go Essential: 4.0/10. It charges over USB Type-C.

CONNECTIVITY

Bluetooth 5.3, USB pen drive, AUX and SD card. TWS pairing and hands-free calling are not listed. Score: 7.5/10.

WATER RESISTANCE AND BUILD

No water-resistance rating is listed, so keep it indoors: 3.0/10. The ABS body weighs 890g and measures about 18.3 x 14 x 14cm, with an easy-grip handle (5.0/10 for portability). Build: 6.5/10.

FEATURES

• •The wireless karaoke mic with voice-changing effects and RGB LED lights that sync with music make this the most feature-packed party speaker here: 9.0/10. Warranty is 1 year.

TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS

Charge the wireless mic along with the speaker before a party, and keep a Type-C cable plugged in for long karaoke sessions, given the 5-hour battery. Hold the mic a little away from the speaker and lower the mic volume first if you hear feedback squeal. Play karaoke versions of songs from YouTube on your phone over Bluetooth. Turn the RGB lights off when you only play music to save battery.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Amazon's listing does not give a box-contents list or a battery capacity, and Portronics' store does not either. The title and Portronics' page say the wireless karaoke mic is included. Portronics offers a 7-day replacement on its own store and a 1-year warranty. The speaker is sold in black only, and this listing ships from Amazon.

HOW IT COMPARES AT THIS PRICE

The Philips TAS1400 (₹1,099) costs the same, lasts twice as long and has IPX4, but has no mic and only 12W. The Zebronics Sound Feast 55 (₹1,249) has stereo sound, FM and TWS, but no karaoke mic.

VALUE FOR MONEY

A 20W speaker plus a wireless mic for ₹1,099 is hard to beat: 9.0/10.
