Primebook 2 Neo Helio G99 8GB, ₹23,990

If you are shopping for the best laptop under ₹30,000 in India this October 2026, start by deciding which operating system you can live with. The Primebook 2 Neo (8GB/128GB) is ranked #3 in our Best Laptops Under ₹30,000 list with an overall score of 7.8/10. It is listed at ₹23,990 (MRP ₹29,990) on amazon.in and shows 4.3★ from 592 ratings. It carries the Amazon's Choice badge. Below is an honest breakdown from listed specs only — we do not invent benchmarks.

WHO IT'S FOR

Buyers who want Android 15-based PrimeOS 3.0 specifically, at or under ₹30,000, and whose daily work matches what this machine’s chip and RAM can do. Key listed highlights: MediaTek Helio G99 (up to 2.2 GHz), Mali-G57; 8GB LPDDR4X / 128GB UFS 2.2 (microSD up to 512GB); 11.6" HD IPS, 1366×768. If those lines match your school, WFH or browsing needs, keep reading. If you need a different OS family, jump to another rank in this list.

DESIGN AND BUILD

0.98–1.1 kg class (listing: 0.98 kg / ~1.1 kg claim); lightest here In this budget almost every chassis is plastic; judge by weight, keyboard features and whether you will carry it daily. Special notes from the listing: treat the published weight as a guide and check the colour/SKU you add to cart.

DISPLAY

11.6" HD IPS, 1366×768. Compare that with HD/WXGA Windows Celerons and the brighter 300-nit FHD ASUS Chromebook panels in this same Top 10. Brightness, resolution and size matter more at ₹30k than marketing adjectives.

PERFORMANCE

Processor and graphics: MediaTek Helio G99 (up to 2.2 GHz), Mali-G57. Memory and storage: 8GB LPDDR4X / 128GB UFS 2.2 (microSD up to 512GB). Relative to this list, our scorecard gives it cpu 9.0, gpu 8.5, memory 8.5 and storage 7.0 out of 10. That is a comparison against the other nine laptops here, not against a ₹60,000 Ryzen 5 machine. Expect browser work, video calls and media to track those scores; do not expect gaming-laptop behaviour.

BATTERY

Capacity/hours not clearly listed on Amazon page we scraped Our battery score for this model is 7.0/10 within the set. Real runtime depends on brightness and video calls.

SOFTWARE

Operating system: Android 15-based PrimeOS 3.0. Windows models can run classic desktop installers and (on Lenovo) often ship with MS Office. ChromeOS is browser-first with automatic updates and Android apps on many models. PrimeOS is Android 15 with a laptop desktop layer and Play Store apps. Pick the ecosystem you already use.

PORTS & CONNECTIVITY

USB-C charging, two USB-A, 3.5mm and microSD (listed up to 512GB expansion). Fine for school pendrives; no HDMI on the bullets we saw, so use USB-C/Display adapters if you need a monitor. Listed ports summary: USB-C charging, 2× USB-A, 3.5mm, microSD.

WEBCAM, AUDIO & THERMALS

Webcam/audio from the listing: Front camera (resolution not specified); dual stereo speakers. Our webcam/audio score is 6.5/10 and thermals 8.5/10 (relative guesses from form factor and listed cooling cues — not lab noise measurements).

WARRANTY & SERVICE

Walk-in service centres with limited pincodes — confirm before purchase if you live outside big cities. Spec line: Walk-in service centers (limited pincodes). Warranty score 6.5/10.

PROS

Lightest build (~1 kg) with Helio G99 + 8GB
Amazon's Choice; strong 4.3★ from 500+ ratings
microSD expansion up to 512GB listed

CONS AND THINGS TO KNOW

Small 11.6" HD screen
Battery hours not clearly listed on the page we used
Android/PrimeOS only

HOW IT COMPARES AT THIS PRICE

Closest alternatives in our ranking include the Primebook 2 Max (8GB/256GB) (#2, ₹29,989, score 8.2), the ASUS Chromebook CM1505 (#4, ₹28,990, score 7.7) and the Primebook 2 Pro (8GB/128GB) (#1, ₹26,989, score 8.3). Neo is the travel pick: Helio G99 + 8GB in an ~1 kg shell. You give up the Pro’s 14.1-inch FHD panel and the Max’s 15.6-inch screen. If you need Windows, look at Acer Aspire One or Lenovo Slim 3 instead. Overall score 7.8 places it at #3 of 10.

WHO SHOULD SKIP IT

Skip this laptop if you need a different OS than Android 15-based PrimeOS 3.0, if the RAM/storage line is too small for your files, or if you were hoping for a mid-range Intel Core i5 / Ryzen 5 Windows laptop — those sit above ₹30,000 on amazon.in today.
